Privacy Policy

• Account information — email address, name, and password (handled by our authentication provider; we never see your raw password).
• Profile and academic inputs — the information you enter to get results: GPA, test scores, coursework, activities, target schools, residency, and similar details. You choose what to provide.
• Essays — essay text you submit is processed transiently to generate your review. We store the structured scores and feedback, not your essay. Files you upload are parsed and discarded; nothing you upload is stored.
• Payment information — handled entirely by our PCI-compliant payment processor. We never receive or store your card number; we keep records of your subscription status and payment history (amounts, dates, plan).
• Usage and device information — pages visited, features used (e.g., calculator runs, essay reviews), approximate region from IP, browser type, and identifiers described in Section 6. We use IP addresses transiently for rate limiting and abuse prevention.
• Marketing source — how you found us (referral codes, campaign tags, referring site, first landing page), captured when you arrive and associated with your account if you sign up.

• To provide the Service: calculate estimates, generate AI analysis and essay reviews, save your results, and operate your account and subscription.
• To process payments, manage trials and renewals, and send transactional messages (receipts, billing notices, account and security emails).
• To send marketing email if you have an account — every marketing email includes a working unsubscribe link, and opting out never affects transactional email.
• To understand and improve the Service through aggregate analytics (owner and internal test activity is excluded from our metrics).
• To prevent fraud and abuse, enforce limits, and comply with law.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your essays or profile to train AI models.

Estimates, analysis, and essay feedback are generated with the help of third-party AI providers. Inputs needed to produce your result — for example, your essay text and profile details — are sent to our AI provider under terms that prohibit using your data to train their models. Results are produced by deterministic scoring code combined with bounded AI signals; the AI-writing-likelihood signal in essay review is advisory only and is never an accusation.

Independent educational consultants can embed our calculator on their own websites and share referral links. If you use the calculator through a consultant’s website, embed, or referral link, your lead information — name, contact details, the academic profile you entered, your target schools, and your results — is shared with that consultant so they can follow up with you. That consultant’s own privacy practices apply to what they do with it. The consumer product at collegecalcai.com does not share your information with consultants unless you arrived through one.

We share information with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract, only to run the Service. They fall into these categories:

• Payment processing and subscription billing
• Cloud database, authentication, and file storage
• Website hosting and infrastructure
• AI processing (Section 3)
• Email delivery
• Site analytics (Section 6)

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (in which case this policy continues to apply to your data until changed per Section 11).

• Authentication cookies keep you signed in.
• A device identifier (cookie + local value) enforces free-usage limits and prevents abuse.
• A referral cookie (30 days) remembers the referral or consultant link that brought you here so the signup can be credited.
• Local storage remembers your first-touch marketing source and in-product preferences.
• First-party analytics record page views and feature usage; third-party analytics services set their own cookies/identifiers.

You can clear or block cookies in your browser; parts of the Service (like staying signed in) may stop working. We do not respond to Do Not Track signals, but we honor the opt-outs described here.

We keep your account data while your account exists. Essay text is never stored (Section 1); scores and results are kept so you can revisit them. Payment records are kept as required for tax and accounting. If you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except what we must retain by law or for legitimate business records (e.g., payment history, opt-out lists — we keep your email on the suppression list so we never email you again).

We use industry-standard safeguards: encrypted connections (TLS), encrypted storage with our providers, row-level access controls in our database, and least-privilege service keys. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify you as required by law.

The Service is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete it — contact us at support@collegecalcai.com. Users aged 13–17 may use the Service only with parental consent (see our Terms), and we encourage parents to be involved in their student’s use of the Service.

• Access, correct, or delete your personal information — email support@collegecalcai.com from your account email and we will act on verified requests within the timelines required by applicable law (including the CCPA for California residents and similar state laws).
• Unsubscribe from marketing email via the link in any marketing message.
• Cancel your subscription anytime from your account or the billing portal.
• We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of under those provisions.
• We will never discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced by email or an in-product notice before they take effect, and the effective date above always reflects the current version.
